Maxis broadband

If you pissed off with Streamyx, and your are within 3G area, maybe you can try Maxis wireless broadband build on 3.5G HSDPA.

How fast can it go?

Here is the testing done in Subang Jaya. Thank to Jamie lend me the modem for testing.

How much its cost?

Well, basically cheaper than Streamyx if you are not "download monster". A basic 384kbps package is RM50 per month and the modem rental is RM18 or you can buy it with RM299.

By the way, Maxis doesn't give me any commission for advertising its product, I just share an option with you. I think that what blog is meant for.

This modem can also be used standalone style...it can be used for 3 hours without any power supply...not bad huh? For Rm68 per month plus added mobility its ok la.....at least you can surf porn in your car or in the toilet...hahahahahahaha

    Interesting!

What's the difference in speed compared with using a regular 3G phone as modem.

I heard 3.5G handphone de...so it's the same if you use it as modem?

  3. basically, 3g is about providing ability to transfer simultaneously both voice data (a telephone call) and non-voice data (non voice call) where the main application is on video call. the maximum speed can go is 384kbps.

where 3.5g, more effort is put on data transfer. there are two main standard hsdpa and wimax. initial hsdpa transfer rate is 1.8mbps and will go up to 14.4mbps.

the future of wimax is unknown.

i think we can use 3.5g handphone as modem. can try if got hardware.

You know what? I think we need a 3.5G HP internet connection for site temporary site.

KJ to buy and then we'll able to see how good is it compared to the modem.

  6. Anoy: u have a very good idea there....maybe u could propose to the Management on our behalf..?

We are at present facing problems of getting communication lines to facilitate our work and client's request. Tried to help but the individuals ( plural ) involved thinks that I am asking the client to bash them from behind...stupid motherfuckers..how bloody childish can one get? my help ends here...no give a fuck liao...they can go to hell for all I care.

Very sad to say that my site does not have coverage for 3G or 3.5G. Might end up taking the test unit from SK and bring it to site......sorry SK..hehehehe...don't freaking mind paying for the monthly rental as well....stupid childish S.O.B.s

How about the continuity of the connection? No sudden drop of signal. Very potong stim if watching streaming video porn and suddenly have to wait 5 sec when almost reaching the climax!

  9. since this is wireless broadband, it will suffer from fluctuated condition.

i tested at puchong, the download rate fluctuated between 150 - 350.

even a wired 1.5mbps streamyx also not very smooth when watching youtube movie.

  11. rm99 for 1mbps line.
so far i tested, can go up to 1mbps at subang jaya.

it also fluctuated most of the time. and you can feel large diff. if the modem is not put at the right place. i notice this at bangsar. if you put the modem near the door, the speed is <10kbps but when put it near window (around 5 meter away) the download speed is around 1mbps.

i hope jaring can expand it's network. it's a very nice product.
